Event
Each winter, Whyalla becomes the stage for one of the world's most extraordinary natural events – the mass breeding of the Giant Australian Cuttlefish.

Cuttlefest invites visitors to witness tens of thousands of these colour-changing marine marvels gather in the clear waters of False Bay, a phenomenon found nowhere else on the planet.

Held across June and July, Cuttlefest blends unforgettable on-water experiences – from snorkeling, diving and glass-bottom tours at Point Lowly – with a vibrant program of on land interactive, immersive and community based experiences.

A full program of engagement including activities and celebrations for all ages. With events, markets, workshops and family-friendly activations taking place right throughout the city.

The festival culminates with Salty 'Sea'esta at the Whyalla Foreshore, a joyful community event celebrating the marine life, creativity and coastal culture of the Upper Spencer Gulf. As Whyalla's flagship tourism event, Cuttlefest is a unique reason to travel, connect with nature, and experience the warmth and creativity of our region.

Cuttlefest is proudly supported by the South Australian Tourism Commission through the Regional Event Fund.
