The Dry Lakes Racers Australia (DLRA) is the official sanctioning body for land speed racing in Australia. Have you seen 'The fastes Indian'? Well, it's like that just in Australia.

DLRA Club was founded in 1990 anductand the original founding members were a group of Hot Rod enthusiasts looking for a place to test their vehicles.

Land Speed Racing is recognised as one of the purest and accessible forms of amateur motorsport, with many competitors designing, building and racing individually constructed vehicles using their own funds. There are truly unique vehicles to see during Speed Week. For many visitors, attending Speed Week is one of the items that people may have on their bucket list.

The landscape around Lake Gairdner is spectacular, unique, interesting and the event can be described as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

In 2026, DLRA will celebrate its 36th Annual Speed Week. The event will start on 9/3/2026 and finish 14/3/2026.

Each year, around 150 entrants compete at Speed Weeks, with around 600 support crew and around 700-1200 spectators attending the salt flats at Lake Gairdner.

The DLRA acknowledges the Gawler Ranges People as the traditional owners of Lake Gairdner and professionally conducts Speed Week, focusing on the safety of participants and spectators while being respectful and protective of the environmental, aesthetic and biodiversity values of the Lake Gairdner National Park.
