House of Palu is a Pop-Up Studio in McLaren Vale. The studio will showcase a collection of hand-loomed rugs, artisan lighting, furniture, and homewares — pieces that celebrate the artistry, heritage, and soulful beauty of handmade design.

At the heart of House of Palu is Rahim Walizada, an acclaimed Afghan artist and designer whose work is dedicated to preserving traditional craftsmanship while exploring contemporary aesthetics. Coming from three generations of Afghan artists and craftspeople, Rahim's creative philosophy merges Afghan tradition with an experimental artistic approach, showcasing the complexity and depth of both old and modern Afghan culture. Rahim brings his artistic vision and global design sensibility through his brand, Chuk Palu, which is exhibited and sold worldwide, including biannual presentations at Maison & Objet, Paris. His collection spans architecture, interiors, carpets, and decorative arts — all deeply rooted in Afghanistan's long and intricate artisanal heritage.

The House of Palu Collection offers a line of pile and flat-woven contemporary rugs, lamps, and homewares. Using ancient techniques and natural materials — hand-spun wool, organic cotton, and natural dyes — each piece is handmade from beginning to end. Every thread, print, and weave reflects the hands, traditions, and stories of the Afghan artisan community.

The Collection supports over 1,600 artisan families. This is the first time the Collection has been on display in Australia.
