'Artist of the Month' NETTE ANDERSON
Nette's story -
Nette grew up on a farm in Coorabie on the Far West Coast of South Australia, where a simple life afforded her time and freedom to be creative. From an early age, she collected shells, grasses, sticks, and natural materials, using what she found around her to create.
Working as a floral arranger allowed her to express herself through the beauty, colour, and form of flowers. Trips to the coastal town of Robe and the Far West Coast inspired her, with the coastal scenery, arid bushlands, and materials she collected.
During this time, her artistic practice expanded as she explored art using a variety of mediums. After moving to the South Coast, the region's natural beauty became a strong influence on her artwork. She experimented with dried natural materials, recycled materials, and wood. She weaves with grasses and palms, giving new life to weathered coastal finds, and creates shell art, all of which bring her joy.
The Gallery is run by a coop of local artists located in the old historic bakery building with the oven on display at the back of the gallery.
