Attraction
Located in a beautifully restored 1870s flour mill, The Sheep's Back Museum brings to life the rich wool industry, agricultural heritage, and settlement history of the Naracoorte region.

Follow the journey of wool production from early hand shears to high-tech innovation, featuring Australia's only automatic shearer. Outside, wander through a recreated pioneer village that captures the spirit and struggles of early settler life—visit the old schoolroom, drop by the traditional post office, peek into a classic Aussie "dunny" and explore the farm machinery shed.

Kids will love the interactive children's museum, designed to engage young visitors with hands-on activities and fun learning experiences about rural life and farming.

The Sheep's Back Museum is integrated with the Naracoorte Visitor Information Centre, more than just a stop for maps—it's your gateway to the region. Browse a handpicked selection of locally made gifts and gourmet treats, get personalised travel tips from friendly, knowledgeable staff, and discover what's on with up-to-the-minute info on local attractions, events, and hidden gems.
