Join Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre for the opening of four new exhibitions:
Two Laws One Big Spirit
Peter Adsett and Rusty Peters
'Two Laws One Big Spirit' are the words used by the late Gija artist Rusty Peters, to describe the profound connection between himself and Aotearoa/New Zealand artist Peter Adsett. The two artists shared a love of painting, and despite their disparate worlds, they had an affinity with their approach to making art.
My Cuzzy Nate and the 654 Club
Damien Shen
Damien Shen's new, multifaceted installation draws together moving image performance work and analogue photography to tell a story of Aboriginal joy and optimism.
Speak Up!
Thumbprint Collective
Celebrating the tradition of social commentary in printmaking, Thumbprint Collective respond to significant prints by South Australian artists Ann Newmarch and Barbara Hanrahan, held in The Riddoch collection. Combining image and text to powerful effect, the works comment on society and challenge long held assumptions.
NAIDOC Posters 1972 – Present
The NAIDOC Poster competition has become an iconic feature of NAIDOC Week and has a rich and significant history beginning in 1967 when the National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) first began producing posters. Each year the NAIDOC Poster Competition encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists aged 16 years and over to submit their artwork reflecting that year's NAIDOC Week Theme.
