Limestone Coast

The Coonawarra Rail Trail runs from Penola through the Coonawarra Wine region. This picturesque bike and walking trail is approximately 19kms long and has been constructed along the old railway line.

The trail begins on Riddoch Street and heads north towards the Coonawarra Railway Siding. The distance is 10kms to the Coonawarra Siding. There is a trail that leads into the Coonawarra township where you can indulge in some wine tasting or enjoy a meal. Coonawarra Soldiers Memorial Park has public toilets, playground and a barbecue.

The Coonawarra Rail Trail continues north and follows the old Mount Gambier to Wolseley rail corridor which comes to an end near Father Woods Park — home to seven sculptures depicting the lives of Father Julian Tenison Woods and Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop.
