Dickson Reserve

Dickson Reserve is a peaceful riverside escape on the banks of the Murray River in Tailem Bend, located just below Cosi's Rhino and the EV charging station and alongside the ferry landing to Jervois. With serene water views, lawned spaces and easy river access, it's a welcoming stop for families, houseboat users and travellers exploring the region.

The reserve provides toilets, seating, a shelter, barbecues, and plenty of open space to relax or enjoy a picnic. A new fixed pontoon allows vessels up to 22.5 metres long and 110 tonnes to dock at Tailem Bend. With eight houseboat moorings, visitors can easily step ashore to access the township and discover local attractions, cafés and walking trails.

Dickson Reserve is also home to the State Heritage listed remains of the original 1924 ferry landing, once a key Murray River crossing. In operation until the mid‑1960s, it remains the most intact example of its type and provides a fascinating look into early river transport history.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the reserve is the starting point of the Lower Murray Canoe Trail, offering an immersive way to explore the river's natural and cultural landscape. The River Bend Heritage Walking Trail also passes through, connecting Tailem Bend to Wellington along both sides of the Murray.
