The Lameroo Silo Art is on both Western and Eastern silos, located in Lameroo, South Australia, near the Victorian border.
The Eastern Silo, painted in April 2024, is displayed on grain silos owned by Viterra, and stands over 24m tall, and 33m wide. Sam 'Smug' Bates, under award winning Arts Curators, Juddy Roller, painted the artworks and is deemed as the 'best silo art in Australia'. Representing Lameroo's strong agricultural roots; honoring the resilience of pioneering farmers who braved the harsh Mallee elements.
The Western Silo, painted in April 2025, displayed on the neighboring silo, has created a diptych art piece between the two Lamerco Vitelta silos. In contrast to the Eastern Silo Art; man and woman, past and present, sunrise and sunset, age and youth, manpower and technology, tradition and innovation.
Despite differences, the artworks capture the essence of rural life by portraying themes of resilience, determination and sacrifice. The installation celebrates the integral role women play in our farming community.
Both silos attract tourists of all ages. Surrounded with lovely facilities; a new playground, dog park, lawn areas, public toilets, a cafe, a hotel (overlooking the silos), caravan and camping sites and more.
A perfect stop between Adelaide and Melbourne or Sydney, stay to explore the Southern Mallee; with some of the best 4wd parks and camping spots at our door steps.
