Mount Boothby Conservation Park is named after the striking 129‑metre rocky outcrop that rises above the surrounding landscape. The hill features ancient granite formations overlain with limestone, surrounded by sandy ridges covered in classic Mallee vegetation.
Across the park you'll find dwarf oaks, tea‑trees, yaccas and desert banksias thriving in the sandy flats, creating a diverse habitat that changes beautifully with the seasons. In spring, the park comes alive with an impressive display of wild orchids, making it a favourite spot for nature lovers and photographers.
Mount Boothby is also an important refuge for native wildlife. Malleefowl have been known to breed within the park, and it's common to encounter western grey kangaroos and echidnas as you explore its quiet tracks and natural clearings.
Just nearby, the Boothby Rocks Reserve offers a popular area for picnicking and camping, providing a relaxing base for those wanting to extend their visit or enjoy the region's peaceful bush setting.
Mount Boothby Conservation Park is a wonderful place to immerse yourself in the Mallee landscape, discover unique plant species, and experience the natural beauty of the Coorong district.
