Pangarinda Botanic Garden is a vital link in Australia's effort to conserve threatened native flora. Carefully maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers, the garden has flourished into a diverse showcase of Australian plant life. Winter is an especially spectacular time to visit, with one of the region's largest collections of hakeas bursting into colourful bloom.

Visitors can follow the marked walking trail, beginning at the information bay and winding through an impressive selection of Western Australian species before entering the Olympic 2000 plantings of local vegetation.

Tailem Bend School students worked alongside volunteers in 2000 to re‑establish the area, transforming what was then a weed‑covered site into thriving habitat.

Today, the trail leads through rich bushland alive with birdlife. Look for quails darting between shrubs, noisy babblers flying low across branches, and the sharp alarm calls of New Holland Honeyeaters when raptors pass overhead.

In May, seasonal visitors such as robins hopping along fence lines and golden whistlers calling from the acacias add to the garden's natural charm.

With one of the finest regional collections of Australian plants, Pangarinda Botanic Garden offers a peaceful, educational and beautifully maintained space for nature lovers to explore.
