Attraction
This sharp right-angled bend in the river is named after local pioneering farmer Emil Wilhelm Habel who settled just a few hundred metres downstream in the 1890s with his family. The bend is a popular fishing spot and visitors may spot a pair of the region’s River Red Chairs at the base of the Heaven cliff walking trail. The nearby Habel’s Landing – visible directly downstream on the left – is a popular houseboat mooring spot. Historical Habel’s Homestead – now a private home – stands proudly overlooking the landing.
