The Stansbury Water Tower Mural is a striking 25-metre-high artwork located on Brentwood Road in Stansbury. Created by artist Mike Makatron, with assistance from Conrad Bizjak, the mural was commenced on May 17th, 2021, and completed in just 13 days. Using a combination of spray gun and hand painting techniques, the artwork celebrates the unique fauna and natural landscape in and around Stansbury.
It features vibrant depictions of Blue Swimmer Crabs, Pelicans, Dolphins, Norfolk Island Trees, the local jetty, iconic coastline, ribbon seaweed, and oysters.
The project was supported by the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery Grant program—part of efforts to aid communities impacted by the 2019 bushfires—in collaboration with the Stansbury Progress Association, Yorke Peninsula Council, Yorke Peninsula Tourism, and SA Water.
