Kernewek Lowender Copper Coast Cornish Festival
The next Kernewek Lowender will be held May 13th -19th 2019. (This event is held in May every second year)
This unique major cultural festival for South Australia has been held biennially in the three Copper Coast towns of Moonta, Wallaroo and Kadina since 1973, routinely attracting more than 40,000 people who gather to celebrate the region’s significant Cornish heritage.
With a new focus and drive to reignite the flame for the festival the committee is re planning and refreshing the festival.
The unique authentic program of fun and feasting includes hundreds dressing as Cornish Jacks and Jennies, thousands of Cornish pasties and crowds filling the town squares for the spectacle that is the maypole and furry dancing.
Necks crane to view the Procession and Cavalcade of Cars & Motorcycles, and people travel thousands of miles to experience the Gathering of the Bards and the Dressing of the Graves.
