Edenmae Estate Wines
- Outdoor Dining Area
The number of wineries in Eden Valley is small but the region has a significant influence on Australian winemakers. Eden Valley's signature varieties are Riesling and Shiraz, however it also produces Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
William Lillecrapp founded the Eden Valley township in 1864. The first homestead built in the township was Rushlea Homestead, which is now Fernfield Wines' cellar door. It is still owned by the Lillecrapp family today.
Mountadam Winery was built in 1972 by David Wynn. David was a legend of the Australian wine industry. He recognised the cool climate potential of an area he called "High Eden". His Chardonnay helped pioneer the variety in Australia. Please note, unfortunately Mountadam Winery does not have a cellar door in Eden Valley that is open to the public.
Don’t miss Irvine Wines. Jim Irvine’s Merlots are among the best in Australia. He also makes great sparkling Merlot, Zinfandel and Pinot Gris. Taste the full range at Irvine Wines' cellar door (by appointment).
Sample Peter Seppelt Wines at Grand Cru Estate, located just outside Eden Valley in Mount Pleasant. Peter’s family has been making wine for over 150 years. Eat gourmet pizza at the Grand Cru Wood Oven Restaurant. It is open weekends for lunch and dinner.
The cellar door is open five days a week, closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Henschke is one of the oldest wine names in the Barossa. For five generations, the family has been making wine. Their Hill of Grace Shiraz is world-renowned. Henschke is located in Keyneton, a short drive from the Eden Valley township. Its original cellars, built in 1868, are open every day except Sunday.
Fernfield Wines is a family-owned winery. It is operated by the founding family of the Eden Valley township. Its wines are made by hand-picking grapes, basket pressing, and then hand plunging. Try Fernfield wines with a tasting platter at their Eden Valley cellar door. The cellar door is open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11am to 4pm.
